Use “all ages” literally. It describes who the event admits, subject to any stated guardian or ID conditions. It does not mean alcohol-free, free of charge, suitable for every child or accessible in every physical sense. Keeping those questions separate is how a group avoids an unpleasant surprise at the door.

Find the rule attached to your ticket
Start with the organizer or venue’s event page. Look for a full date and year, the named room and the age restriction. A general venue policy can fill a gap only when it clearly applies and the event does not publish an exception. TV Eye explicitly defaults to 21+ unless the show ticket says otherwise. A 2pm hardcore bill there is not automatically an all-ages event.
When two sources disagree, get clarification before buying. The Suitor date in our first edition has exactly this problem: the venue says 21+, while the promoter says 18+. We keep the conflict visible and do not include the date in either definitive age filter. Choosing the more convenient answer would only move the problem to the door.
Ask about ID and accompaniment separately
“Can I attend?” and “What must I bring?” are different questions. Some operators ask for ID even at an all-ages event. Crystal Ballroom also states guardian conditions for attendees under 15 at all-ages shows unless otherwise noted. Other venues distinguish ID for entry from ID to drink. Read the actual policy for the date you plan to attend.
A useful message is short: “We are attending [show and date]. One of us is [age]. What ID and adult accompaniment do you require for admission to this event?” You do not need to send identity documents to a directory or an unfamiliar social account to ask that question.
Plan the whole evening
A mixed-age group can enter a show together and still have different re-entry rules. An early event may end before a separate age-restricted night begins. Confirm whether you must leave between events and whether the original ticket covers anything later. Budget and plan transport around the show you can actually attend.
If a late finish affects a minor’s travel, use current official local information and agree on a pickup or other return arrangement. This guide does not turn an old venue FAQ into legal advice about curfews. The practical task is to settle the return before the group splits up.
If you are organizing
Put the age policy in plain text on the ticket page, flyer caption and submission. Include a guardian condition if there is one. Confirm the policy with the operator before announcing, and update every destination if it changes. Do not sell a room as all ages on the strength of what happened there last month.
The best all-ages listing is a small complete set of facts: a real date, a named room, the admission rule, any ID or guardian condition and a contact that can answer a specific question. If one of those is unresolved, say which one and resolve it before the trip.
